Memory: Cody Starts School

Children are not all the same. Thank goodness! My son, Cody, now a Sophomore at RPI (and on the Dean's List) gave his preschool teacher reason to worry. But really nothing was wrong. Cody was (and still is) perfect at being Cody. His brain just works a bit different. Thank goodness. Cody (and his friend Austin), taught me that neuro-diversity is important.

Baby Joey -Pregnancy, Birth and the First Five Days

In midwifery, like life, things do not always unfold as you think they might. And Baby Joey has schooled us in that particular lesson again and again in his short life. The Default Prayers of Midwife Doyle

St. Paul's Episcopal in Troy, NY is starting a book club. Our priest, Father Michael Gorchov has picked Beginner's Grace by Kate Braestrup as our first selection. Beginner's Grace is a lovely book about prayer that is truly appropriate for people of all faiths (including atheists). I read the quirky and powerful book last year on the recommendation of Father Michael's wife, Marianne. In appreciation of Michael, Marianne and Kate, here are a few of my own beginning prayers.
